About Benjie
IvesDevel, as its name implies, stands out because we invest in your development. No fluff or "pie-in-the-sky," just solid and intellectually honest information, techniques and recommendations to help you know, grow and get on a solid path to achievement of your goal to become a professional actor and performer in the entertainment business.
I'm a professional actor with over 40 years of experience. My passion for being in the business, is to use my experience to help aspiring actors with the basics you need to learn to become the professional actor you seek to become in Atlanta market and anywhere you go to ply "the craft" from sea to shining sea and worldwide!
As an award-winning actor, writer, director and working actor in film, TV and on stage, my experience can help you hone the basics skills necessary to help the beginner and intermediate actor "hit your mark" and deliver a solid performance for any production you'll audition for and earn an opportunity to work in.
Building on a solid foundation in "the business" and in life, helps to insure whatever you build on that foundation will stand over time. Being committed to doing what's necessary to be competent in ones profession is the best way to insure you can be a solid contributor, and earn what your work for to achieve.
Don't hesitate if you're "serious!" Begin your journey to fulfilling your destiny of being a professional actor. Visit me on social media and I'll see you around the entertainment campus.
"Living in a dream world isn't living... LIVING a dream in the real world is!" -Benjie "TheMan" Anderson
It's a RUSH to audition, be cast as a character, get the script, develop your character, report to set and bring a writers words to life; be it a fictional or factual.
The exhilliation of performing and entertaining an audience live or on film is like nothing else; and being paid to do so too... WHOA!
It's also important to note that reaching back to help others is important to keep the acting industry viable and moving forward.
I started teaching "unofficially" in an OJT (On The Job Training) capacity 1999-2012 as an Exec. Prod. and lead actor with the former BJG Media Productions of Atlanta on the TV series my partners and I created.
We auditioned and cast actors who had little if any acting ability, but they presented themselves as eager and willing to learn on the job, as it were. A few of them have gone on to become lead actors, film producers and directors and businesspersons in and out of the entertainment business.
Their individual efforts to further their work proved we as a production company made good choices to cast them. They learned from us, we from them, and the rest as the saying goes is history. I've been asked for many years if I taught acting. Well, never in a structured way, but that changes in 2018.
I feel it incumbent upon me to give back by helping to train and prepare future generations of talent to take their places in the business, and to have them reach back to help whomever they can realize their dreams too.
With over 35 years of professional experience, being a collegiate performer in theatre and the arts, having been a producer and having worked with and learning from professionals such as the late Ossie Davis, Jr and Carroll O'Connor; being on set with today's professional actors and producers, gives me a unique perspective on helping new and intermediate talent learn the "basic skills" necessary to help them deliver solid auditions and upon landing the job, deliver for the production and the audiences that will see the finished work.

A student should first be "committed" and "serious" about their desire to learn the craft. They must audition so as to assess their level of potential, then upon being accepted, begin the process to learning the basics necessary to put them on the path to becoming a professional actor.
I've worked with students "informally" as young as 8 years old. They brought something to the table that I was able to enhance upon to help them deliver on set and make their performances work for the production.
Do your due diligence! As a parent of a minor child and as an adult; look into whomever you've choosen or decide to take an acting class with.
Check their credentials, background, and generally ask questions of others as to their experience(s) of, with, or about the person you may be considering.
Make an informed choice and get to it!
An event I'm fond of was being an award honoree in 2017 at the 1st Annual Atlanta Actor's Award ceremony recognizing my nealy 40 years of work in the business #AAA2017.
I'm also fond and very appreciative of being recognized as an Atlanta celebrity by @atl_black_celebrities on Instagram. It's gratifying to be recognized for being competent in the craft by insiders and peers.
I don't do what I love to garner awards. Having said that, it is a wonderful thing to be recognized for your work and contributions.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I recommend asking:
Does taking this or any acting class guarantee you work?
It is required to take this or any acting class in order to get work in film, TV or theatre?
What age should one be to start acting classes?
For those of age; can taking an acting class count towards college credit?
Is it necessary to take more than one acting?
There are many questions one can and should ask and have answered in consideration of spending (as parents) and as adults their money in pursuit of fullfilling their goal of working as actor. While acting is not for everyone, for those who are willing and committed to the process of learning the craft, in due course, it can be incredibly rewarding. There is only 1 guarantee I can make; if you do nothing, you get nothing. GUARANTEED!
