About Natalie
Hi I'm Natalie! I am going into my sophomore year as an honors student at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I am patient and friendly, and I love teaching students! I have experience as a volunteer tutor as well as a teaching assistant at local elementary schools. Whether by recognizing formulas or visually learning with color-coded notes, I enjoy helping students improve their scores in a way that fits their personal learning style.
From scoring a 26 on my first reading section to consistently achieving a 36 on practice tests, I learned that anyone can improve their scores with consistency and a results-focused approach. By studying the underlying framework of the ACT questions, you too can recognize how to answer correctly on the test! I also scored perfectly in the english section, and achieved a 5 on the AP Language test.
I love helping students figure out how the ACT actually works! It feels complicated and challenging at first, but the structure of the test is always the same. It is rewarding to help the student improve their scores and feel better about their test-taking strategy.
I have experience volunteering as a tutor at a local elementary school, working as a teaching assistant for a year in high school, and have years of experience as a counselor at summer camps such as junior lifeguards, where I taught kids about the ocean and marine safety.

On our first tutoring session we will review areas of the test that the student is struggling with; it is a good idea to bring one or two practice tests that the student has taken in order for me to assess what needs to be studied. I will take note of specific problems to analyse with the student, and we will figure out why the problem was answered incorrectly, as well as how a different strategy can be used instead. We can go over how to quickly and effectively read the passages, recognize question structures, and of course, the best method for the student to use while testing. I will note everything in a google docs, and can assign homework or create a study schedule for the student if desired.
I have worked with students of all ages, from 8 years old to college students!
