About Hannah

I have been a piano and singing teacher for a decade, and I have worked as a moderator for an exam board. I have also been Head of Music at both a primary and a secondary school. I hold a BMus, QTS, PGCE and MEd. I recently completed a Master's Degree where I conducted research on making Music Theory more accessible to young learners.

I have been training as a musician and performer for as long as I can remember. I started playing the piano at the age of 3 and have performed in concerts and gigs throughout my career. I am also a trained jazz and musical theatre singer, and I have enjoyed performing both on stage and in bands.

Having been through every piano grade myself, I understand how difficult exams can feel, as well as how frustrating and beautiful learning an instrument and music theory can be. That experience helps me support students in reaching their own potential.

About your lessons
Every student is unique and learns in different ways, so I take time to get to know each one and tailor my lesson plans to them. For GCSE and A Level students, I build their performing, composing and listening/analysis skills with a clear focus on what the exam board is looking for. I have led Eduqas and Edexcel GCSE Music, Eduqas A Level Music and Edexcel A Level Music Technology in schools, so I know what each specification asks for and how marks are awarded.

For piano and singing, I prepare students for ABRSM grades 1-8, including Grade 5 Theory, and I also teach those who are playing purely for fun. I keep scales and sight reading as fun as possible so that students always enjoy practising and playing.

Lessons are [30 / 45 / 60] minutes long and take place online.
My students have a 100% pass rate in their graded examinations.
