About Sophia
I have been teaching in both primary and secondary schools since I began my PGCE 7-14 Spanish and French in 2010. In my spare time I enjoying tutoring in primary maths, English, towards the 11+ exams and in my specialist subjects (Spanish, French and Portuguese). I am also a qualified and experienced TEFL teacher. I have taught both adults and children Spanish, French, Portuguese and English.

I enjoy teaching one-to-one and in small groups as it allows me to put greater focus into the individual needs of each learner and through this I usually see rapid progression. I tailor make make my lessons to suit individual needs and I prefer to keeps my lessons as varied, active, fun and interesting as possible. I do this by combining memory games, short activities and practical tasks. I use a range of high quality learning resources to support learners and enjoy exploring new and creative methods to help aid learning and develop key skills.
When teaching languages, I focus on the key skills of listening, reading, writing, speaking, spelling and grammar. I begin by asking the learner what areas they would like to work on and I usually carry out a short assessment of these key areas.
