About Luke
Hi, I'm Luke Henderson – a passionate educator with a strong background in Physical Education and Materials Design and Technology. Teaching is more than just a job for me—it's an opportunity to inspire students to grow in confidence, develop life skills, and discover their potential both in and outside the classroom. I'm a proud AFL fan (Fremantle Dockers), and when I’m not teaching or designing engaging lessons, you’ll often find me out on the golf course, spending time with my dog Henry, or catching the latest game. I believe that sport, creativity, and practical skills play a vital role in shaping well-rounded young people. These interests often influence my teaching style, making lessons relatable, hands-on, and fun. I enjoy working with students of all ages and learning levels, and I’m especially passionate about helping them thrive in home-based learning environments through clear instructions, real-world examples, and a supportive, friendly approach.

As a qualified Physical Education and Materials Design & Technology teacher, my tutoring approach is grounded in creating engaging, practical, and student-centered learning experiences that can be accessed and completed from home. I focus on building students’ confidence and independence by breaking down tasks into manageable steps and tailoring lessons to suit different learning styles and abilities. Techniques and Teaching Methodology: Interactive & Visual Learning: I use videos, diagrams, and real-life examples to make concepts clear—especially for kinesthetic and visual learners. Skill Development Focus: In PE, I emphasize fundamental movement skills, personal fitness planning, and health education. In Materials Design, I support students in developing design thinking, technical drawing, and safe tool usage through online tasks and guided projects. Project-Based Learning: I design tasks that allow students to explore, create, and reflect—such as home fitness plans or simple design challenges using household items. Feedback-Driven Support: Students receive personalized feedback to improve both theory and practical elements. I also offer goal-setting to track progress over time. Typical Length of a Lesson: Lessons typically run for 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the content and student need. I also provide optional extension tasks and asynchronous resources (videos, templates, and guides) for students to work through at their own pace. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor of Education with a double major in Physical Education and Design & Technology Over 5 years of classroom teaching experience at the secondary level Experience delivering remote learning during COVID-19 and through home-based support programs Passionate about helping students develop life skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and healthy lifestyles Who My Lessons Are For: Students in Years 7–12 Suitable for general and ATAR (academic) pathways Ideal for students who are learning from home due to distance education, illness, or who need extra support or extension outside school hours Lessons can be adapted for students with diverse learning needs and goals
