About Jeremy
I am a classically trained musician that has completed Level 9 of my Royal Conservatory Music certificate program, and have competed at and won multiple music festivals and competitions in Ontario. I now am a songwriter and teach piano to all ages.

Private Piano Tutor (2020-Current)
Privately tutor beginner and intermediate level piano players how I believe it should be taught- with freedom as well as with structure, learning basic theory and sight reading then putting it into practice by learning songs from genres and artists that students are interested in.
12 years experience of piano training
Started at 6 years old and finished classically training at 18. Still play everyday!
Newmarket Lion’s Club music festival winner
Won gold for the prestigious Newmarket Lion’s Club Festival competition 4 years in a row against experienced royal conservatory music trained pianists.
Royal Conservatory of Music level 9 completion
The RCM Certificate Program is a comprehensive and effectively sequenced program of music study and assessment that requires a rigorous examination process for each level of completion. Level 9 completion means 9 years of practice and 9 total examinations.

Fluent in sight reading and have perfect pitch.
Coach for Silver Knights Basketball Club (2019-2020)
Acquired essential leadership and mentoring skills, organized practices, drills and games for high school kids. Paid specific attention to each child’s needs and figured out the best way to reach their potential while making sure they had fun. Always encouraged and restored confidence in kids that were down and needed a boost. Swiftly and effectively resolved any disputes between teammates through virtue and reason, instilling important life skills, lessons and values through basketball.

I believe music is an art and a piano is a paintbrush by which one uses to create their sound. No one forces or tells an artist what to paint, the same way a teacher should not force what someone learns. Through teaching private lessons I have found that students excel and find interest in piano when they have a say in what they learn. Growing up learning classical piano was useful, (and I still teach it now) however it didn't make me passionate about playing. Only when I was allowed to learn different genres, and play songs I wanted was I able to appreciate the piano. All my students learn rudiments, scales and basic theory to help them with their playing however what they play is up to them. If you want to play a song by your favourite artist then I will create and teach you a rendition that is within your skill level. If you would rather take the classical route and learn Chopin or Beethoven then you can learn that too!

Details
If you want to do one lesson at a time I charge 25 an hour or 20/45mins, but since piano isn't something you learn in an hour most of my students end up choosing to get a pack of lessons that are discounted. I am now doing both in person and online lessons. As long as you are within 15km (I reside in north york, keele and steeles) I can travel to your house with additional 10$ for travel costs.
