About Gavin
I am a professional educator, actor, public speaking coach, and technology specialist with a **Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater from Cornish College of the Arts, a Master of Science in Computer Science, and post-baccalaureate studies in Education at National University.**
My professional teaching experience includes serving as a **Teaching Artist with Seattle Shakespeare Company and Studio East**, teaching theater, Shakespeare, character development, improvisation, and performance techniques. I have also taught public speaking and creative writing through Best Brains Learning Centers and offered independent instruction through Outschool.
My theatrical training includes **four years of intensive voice and speech study**, including the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), Edith Skinner's speech techniques, dialect training, Stanislavski's acting methods, Viewpoints, and Suzuki-based performance techniques. My professional acting experience spans stage performance, interactive theater, and voice acting, including work on *Halo: Reach*.
Beyond the performing arts, I have extensive professional experience in software quality assurance, telecommunications, technical training, and customer-facing communication. This combination of artistic and technical disciplines allows me to teach communication from both expressive and analytical perspectives.

On a personal level, Gavin is a really chill and knowledgeable man. I really enjoy listening to his experiences in the industry. I met Gavin through a Discord server for the Casting Call Club and he mentioned that he was starting Voice Acting and Public Speaking classes. After 12 years of just winging it, I figured it was time that I took things seriously. So I took him up on his offer and Gavin has been an amazing teacher for me. I've learned so much from him over our several sessions for Voice Acting. Honestly, I feel like I've leveled up because of him! From simple pronunciations and vocal exercises to Scene work from Shakespeare and even some tips of vocal manipulation! There has been so much that I've learned! And now? I feel like I've been getting even more roles than I have before!
I go way back to Cornish College of the Arts as a fellow alumni. I had the opportunity to both work with Gavin as one of our leads in, “Of Mice and Men,” as well as be taught by him on fight choreography. Plus I was his interview subject on a streaming show that he produced and hosted. I always appreciated how personable he is! He will be a great teacher of Public Speaking.
