About Oscar
I have been tutoring math for over 20 years. I have worked at several local high schools and community colleges as a math tutor. I have assisted math teachers in the classroom and also lead small groups in separate skills seminars to review and reinforce concepts. I specialize in improving student's individual grades. The key is the willingness of the student to commit to working hard and not minimizing the importance of any detail that we go over. Along with giving plenty of instructions and explanations while teaching I also realize that students can use a certain level of "coaching." Positive reinforcement can propel students to excel, yet other student may require a little more individual care. Every student is different. As a private tutor, it is important to know what strategies, teaching and coaching methods work best for each student.

After a brief meet and greet introductory assessment session I provide feedback and a recommended tutoring plan with potential scheduling options and different discounted pricing options to accommodate the student and family. Once we begin our sessions, we prioritize homework and preparation for any and all upcoming quizzes and exams/test. I emphasize plenty of individual practice of various problems. Repetition is critical to be successful in any Mathematics course. Each session is typically an hour to 90 minutes depending on the student's needs.
