About Ciara

I am a passionate educator who genuinely enjoys helping children discover what they are capable of. After almost 20 years working in primary education, I have seen first-hand how much difference the right support, encouragement and teaching approach can make to a child’s confidence and progress.

Alongside my teaching, I have taken on leadership responsibilities within a London primary school, giving me a broad understanding of the curriculum, assessment and the different ways children learn and develop.

I pride myself on being approachable, patient and encouraging. I want children to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and challenging themselves without feeling under pressure. I believe that building a positive relationship with a child is just as important as the academic content of a lesson.

Every child is different, and I enjoy finding the approach that works best for each individual. Whether a child needs reassurance and support, is working towards a particular goal, or simply needs to be stretched further, I aim to make every session purposeful, engaging and enjoyable.

Most importantly, I want children to leave each lesson feeling that they have learned something new, achieved something they didn't think they could and are one step closer to reaching their goals.

About the lesson

Throughout my career, I have worked with children across the primary age range, supporting them to develop their knowledge, confidence and independence. My experience as both a classroom teacher and school leader gives me a strong understanding of how children learn, where they may encounter difficulties and how to help them make meaningful progress.

I offer tailored tuition for children preparing for competitive 11+ and independent school entrance examinations, as well as pupils who would benefit from additional support or challenge in their schoolwork and SATs exam preparation.

My approach

I believe the most effective tuition combines high expectations with encouragement and confidence-building.

Every child is different, so I tailor sessions to their individual ability, learning style and goals. Lessons are structured and purposeful, but I also want children to enjoy learning and feel proud of their progress.

For 11+ and school entrance preparation, I focus not only on practising questions, but on developing the underlying reasoning, problem-solving and exam techniques children need to approach unfamiliar questions with confidence.

As a school leader, I also have extensive experience supporting children to achieve their academic potential and working closely with families to ensure the right strategies are in place.
