About the lesson

My Approach to Teaching:
My approach to teaching is student focussed and cultivating an engaging learning environment. It is important to use growth mindset techniques and build a strong rapport with your child to ensure their individual needs are catered for. My philosophy is to empower students to become confident learners through a positive working environment.

My Pedagogy:
My pedagogy entails partially using explicit direct instruction (EDI), the Science of Reading, and critical thinking skills.

Skilled Areas:
- Year One to Year 5 students.
-The Science of Reading.
- NAPLAN preparation for Year Three and Year Five students.
-Reading Fluency teaching strategies used aligned with your child’s whole school literacy programme and the Science of Reading.
- Writing skills –learning narrative, recount, persuasive, information report and procedure writing.
- Comprehensions skills
- Grammar, spelling skills
- Reading skills

Teaching Resources:
I use a range of teaching resources, including multimedia resources and hand-on activities.

Typical Length of a Lesson:
The duration of each lesson is 60 minutes, but it can be adjusted to cater to your child's specific requirements.

Qualifications:
I am a primary school educator with a decade of teaching and tutoring expertise. My professional learning includes the completion of a three-day course on the Science of Reading, led by Dr. Lorraine Hammond at the University of Western Australia. This course has significantly elevated my teaching skills to meet both Australian and international standards in reading instruction. Additionally, I hold qualifications relevant to assisting neurodiverse and dyslexic students. Over the years, my teaching career has equipped me to provide dedicated support to students with diverse needs. I have also worked as a private tutor for primary students, offering my guidance and expertise in various subject areas, spanning across Perth, London, and South Africa.
