About Kim
Hi there, my name’s Kim, and I’ve been training people throughout my 30-year career. My training style is friendly, flexible and tailored to each student’s specific needs.
Many of my students are complete beginners or face barriers that have made learning difficult. Some feel anxious about technology, some are older adults, and others are adapting after an injury, facing an unexpected career change or reintegrating into the community. Whatever the circumstances, we start with what you already know and build from there.
I’ve had a long and wonderful career in IT. After completing four years of tertiary study in technology, I went on to work with start-ups. Eventually, I founded and sold my own multimedia technology company. From there, my career moved into education leadership, corporate management, government, not-for-profit organizations and social enterprises.
I specialize in helping adults build practical digital skills through real-life goals, such as changing careers, starting a business or side hustle, or buying a first home or investment property.
Often, students come to me with something specific they need help with. It might be completing online forms, figuring out email, creating a digital ad for a business, using social media for free marketing or putting together a spreadsheet. I also teach job-search skills, interview preparation, online applications, workplace documents and the foundational digital tools needed for work and everyday life.
Digital equity has featured strongly throughout my career, and I’m actively involved with organizations working to make technology more accessible. Some of my most rewarding work has been digital literacy training in vulnerable communities where access to technology or training is limited. This has included relaxed drop-in sessions at public libraries for people who might not otherwise participate because of cost or confidence.
My approach is relaxed, practical and patient. There are no silly questions, and you’ll never be made to feel embarrassed about what you don’t know. I take the work seriously, but definitely not myself, and believe learning is always easier when we can have a good laugh along the way. We simply start with what you want to achieve and work through it together. :)

My lessons are practical, relaxed and tailored to what you actually want to achieve. We work at your pace, using your own computer, phone or tablet wherever possible. I explain things clearly, without technical jargon, and you’ll practise each step yourself so you feel confident doing it independently.
I can help with everyday computer and smartphone skills, email, internet use, online safety, Microsoft Word and Excel, video calls, file organisation and much more. Lessons are generally one hour and are suitable for adults of all ages, including complete beginners and anyone who feels anxious or left behind by technology.
I’m an experienced IT industry professional, so my knowledge is practical, relevant and up to date. Over the past 30 years, I’ve worked as a technology tutor and Head of Department across schools, tertiary institutions, libraries and corporate environments, supporting people with a wide range of abilities and learning needs.
I currently tutor adults in digital and vocational skills, including people exploring new employment and career pathways. I also specialise in practical digital support for people wanting to work for themselves, develop a start-up business, or research and plan the purchase of their first home.
