About Sonia
I am a native Spanish teacher with a degree in linguistics and literature from Deusto University in Bilbao and a master's in translation from City University. After working as a bilingual PA in London for many years I decided to leave my job to do what I love. I have now been teaching privately for over 15 years and I teach students from all backgrounds, from GCSE to A level or IB, and also adult students who want to challenge themselves by learning a new language. I also collaborate with Chelsea FC helping players and staff learn Spanish or English to help them achieve an effective cross-cultural communication.

I am a very patient and encouraging teacher and I explain grammar thoroughly but in a very simple way. I set some homework after each lesson so the student can learn the vocabulary. I allow for lots of conversation time in every lesson, focusing on correct pronunciation. Once the student reaches intermediate level most of the lesson time is spent on conversation, unless they are preparing for an exam, in which case I set appropriate exercises.

Perfect! My daughter enjoyed her 1st lesson. She came away feeling confident with clear instructions for the week ahead. We will definitely continue with this tutor.

Perfect! I have had a couple of lessons now with Sonia to help me prepare for the oral section of the Dele B1 exam and I’m very pleased with how it is going. - Ciro has an intermediate Spanish level and started lessons with me because he wants to take DELE B1 exam. His grammar and vocabulary are good but lacks exam technique as he has never taken formal lessons before. Sonia guided me through the whole two years of the IB diploma, providing me with a strong academic structure, robust Spanish knowledge and guaranteed reliability in and out of lessons. Sonia was open to adjust our lessons to my preferences, so that I could develop specific Spanish skills, which helped me greatly for my final exams.
