About Charlie
For 11 years I have been devoted to the study of my instrument and I am fortunate enough to share this passion and knowledge with my students looking to progress in their musical journey. Over the course of 3 years studying Jazz at Leeds Conservatoire I have been mentored by some of the best musicians and tutors based in both the North of England and in London. I have not only learnt how to be proficient at my instrument but have learnt many teaching skills and methods from the tutors who mentored me. As a working musician I have played at a variety of venues, festivals and functions across the country and in 2024 I won the ‘Best Soloist Award’ at Durham’s Great North Big Band Jazz competition. Most recently I performed at Leeds Jazz Festival 2025, Rock n Ribs Festival 2025 and the In It Together Festival 2025.

My lessons are completely tailored to each student which means that no matter your age, ability or goals, you will have lessons that are well suited to you. Whether you’re wanting to ace your Rockschool Grades, start your career in music or are just looking to play for fun, my teaching materials and methodology will be completely in line with your goals. Throughout my lessons we will cover core elements for becoming a competent guitarist including rhythm/timing, harmony, melody, improvisation and repertoire. Topics covered in the lessons are complemented with teaching materials and resources to take outside of the lesson. As a versatile guitarist I teach a variety of genres including rock, blues, jazz, country, pop, funk, folk and R&B. Lessons can cover electric guitar or acoustic guitar and range from 30 minutes - 1 hour. I hold a cleared DBS check and as a member of the Musicians Union am covered for PLI. For in-person teaching I use a private outdoor studio space which helps create a focused and inspiring environment for my lessons.
