About Luke
I hold an Enhanced DBS on the update service and have completed extensive safeguarding training.
I am a highly experienced modern history and politics specialist with a Masters in International Relations from the University of Birmingham. I have a keen interest in the Cold War and Nazi Germany and am confident in covering an entire politics specification.
My experience as an educator ranges over a number of good and outstanding schools including the London Oratory School in Fulham.
I have extensive experience as a Form Tutor –especially with VI Form – and have worked as an Oxford Housemaster at St Clare's. I have facilitated several Debate Clubs and History Societies, as well as supervised EPQs within the Humanities. Furthermore, I have tutored Gifted and Talented pupils 1:1.
I am extremely enthusiastic about a robust teaching of my subjects and facilitating deep-dive enquiry into large and complex ideas and concepts. I opt for depth over breadth and aim at discerning historical truth and source-based accuracy.
Therefore, I am wholly committed to working hard and securing fantastic results through a variety of dialectic and more discursive techniques.
My job is to support and coach you in skills and techniques that will allow you to progress and secure desired results.

Classes are typically in one or two hour blocks but split up with a break into 45 minute sessions and will consist in me either directly teaching specific content or leading a discussion to support knowledge and understanding. Alternatively, they will comprise of working through essay questions and revision activities.
Discursive sessions are welcome too as is the setting of prep.
Dependent on skill and ability, we can work through a variety of different exercises together and complete a number of tasks.
Classes are typically suitable for KS4-5 (GCSE & A Level) but I am happy to supervise other ages too (including adults - preferably undergraduates).
