About Dr Sam
I am a Chartered Chemical Engineer (C.Eng) with a First-Class MEng (Hons) degree from the University of Surrey and a Doctorate in Engineering (EngD). With over 11 years of tutoring experience, I’ve helped students from primary school through to GCSE, A-Level and University level develop a strong understanding of Maths.
My engineering and academic background gives me a deep understanding of Chemistry, Physics and Maths, allowing me to explain complex scientific ideas in a way that is clear, engaging and easy to understand.
Whether your child is struggling with a particular topic, preparing for important exams, or aiming for the highest grades, my lessons are personalised, structured and focused on building both knowledge and confidence.

My lessons are personalised, engaging and exam-focused, designed around each student’s individual needs and goals.
Before each session, I can prepare clear, detailed notes tailored to the topics the student would like to cover. These notes provide a valuable resource for future revision, helping students build a strong and organised knowledge base throughout their studies.
Lessons are carefully structured around the relevant exam-board specification and past examination questions. Rather than simply giving students the answers, I work through problems alongside them, encouraging them to think, apply their knowledge and develop their problem-solving skills.
If a student is struggling with a particular concept, we can take a step back and rebuild their understanding from the fundamentals, progressing at a pace that works for them. My aim is not just to help students memorise content, but to develop genuine mathematical understanding, confidence and exam technique.
Ultimately, I want every student to leave a lesson thinking: “I understand this now — and I know how to tackle it myself.”

Perfect! We highly recommend Sam. Most importantly, our son really enjoys the sessions with him (maths, physics and Chemistry all GCSE). Sam is super clever and can simplify the subjects for easy understanding.
Perfect! Sam is an excellent maths teacher. Text communication with Sam has been easy. He is flexible with his timetabling of lessons for my Y11 grandson. My grandson has worked well with Sam and has increased in confidence as his maths lessons have progressed. He feels better prepared for his upcoming GCSE maths exams.

Perfect! Sam is outstanding tutor. He didn't just help my son with missed 1 year at school catch up he made him get reall interest in the subject. He teaches him deep in the subject so they cover some GCSA and A level. From worried to go to school and terrified with tests boy my son is now proud to show his knowledge and finds lessons in school boring. At the moment my son is year 9.
