About Cecilia
Hi there! I’m a patient and enthusiastic Chinese tutor who teaches both Mandarin and Cantonese. I love helping people discover the beauty of the Chinese language and culture in a relaxed, supportive environment. I have a Mandarin Proficiency Certificate (Level 2-A) and a Master’s degree from the University of Manchester, where I studied Communication and Education. Over the years, I’ve worked with learners of all levels—from complete beginners to more advanced speakers—so don’t worry if you’re just starting out! My lessons are all about making learning fun, practical, and personalised. Whether you want to learn Chinese for travel, work, daily conversation, or exams, I’ll tailor each class to match your goals and pace. I believe that learning a language should be enjoyable, practical, and personalised. My lessons are tailored to each student's goals, whether you're preparing for exams, travelling, working with Chinese speakers, or simply passionate about the language. Teaching Style & Methodology: Immersive Speaking Practice: I encourage active speaking and listening from the first lesson to help students gain confidence quickly. Balanced Structure: Lessons include pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading, and writing, with plenty of real-life examples. Cultural Context: I weave in Chinese culture, idioms, and daily expressions to make learning more meaningful and engaging. Interactive Tools: I use games, videos, short stories, and role-play to keep lessons lively and help with long-term retention. Lesson Details: Each session is typically 1 hour long, but I’m happy to adjust based on your needs or schedule. Qualifications & Experience: I hold a Mandarin Proficiency Certificate (Level 2-A), demonstrating a high level of standard Mandarin. I have experience teaching both Mandarin and Cantonese to students of different ages and backgrounds, from beginners to advanced learners.
