About Lottie
My name is Lottie and I am a Latin and Classics teacher. I studied History and Classics at the University of Edinburgh and love sharing my passion for ancient languages and civilisation. I live in London and really enjoy making the most of all the amazing opportunities for exhibitions, theatre and culture that this provides. In my spare time I love learning Ancient Greek, taking dance classes and watching live comedy. I gained my PGCE in Latin and Classics from the University of Cambridge and have experience working in both the maintained and independent sector. I have worked at a highly academic independent girls’ school for the past 5 years. I love supporting students to gain enjoyment from the ancient world- helping them to build their linguistic skills and develop the ability to access and appreciate classical literature. I have taught Latin from junior school level through to GCSEs and A level/IB with experience across all year groups. I also have extensive experience in 1:1 tuition both online and in person.

Academic rigour and student enjoyment of the subject are my biggest priorities and I believe that both are equally important. I challenge and support my students to gain excellent grammatical knowledge and accurate translation skills while also maintaining a light, collaborative and fun working environment. Whether we are focusing on Latin language or Classical Civilisation, I make time to discuss the wider context of our work in the appreciation of the ancient world. I pride myself on getting to know and caring about each student as an individual and understanding their interests and how they learn best. I tailor my approach specifically to their needs and constantly check in and adapt my lessons as we go to optimise understanding and security of knowledge. I truly believe that Classics and Latin is for all and love helping students to build their confidence in their ability.
