About Laura
I'm Laura, I am 29 years old and in 2016 I graduated from a Top 10 UK University with a BA (Joint) in History and Politics. Having held a few different jobs since then, as well as tutoring and teaching English as a foreign language online, I am now a HEO in the UK Civil Service working largely from home and hope to move onto a Masters Degree next year. I am very experienced and knowledgeable in a range of subjects from History, Politics, Public Health Policy, International Relations and similar.
I am also now a parent and pride myself on being successful and hardworking and know the importance of providing a supportive and understanding environment for people to grow, develop and learn in.
My specialist areas including 1900-present US History, particularly the Vietnam War period and the aftermath, British History including the Angevin Kings of England and Power and Politics in the 15th Century, and German History in and around the Nazi period. In Politics, I specialise mostly in UK Politics from 1945, US Politics particularly in the post 9/11 era and wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as International Relations and the Politics of the Middle East.
I always provide PowerPoint and additional reading and resources for students so they can revise outside of tutoring time and I am happy to help with exam or assignment work and prep. I can also help in the writing of personal statements for University applications in the context of History and Politics. I'll always tailor my lessons to your learning style and provide a supportive and open learning experience.

I am happy to provide tutoring services for all ages and have a great deal of experience with children in primary, secondary and further education. The depth of my own knowledge does go up to undergraduate degree level and I graduated in 2016 with a 2:1 in History and Politics. I have previously tutored remotely and most of my students were aged 16-21 but as previously stated, I am happy to tutor any age and ability. Most of my lessons are currently based online and most sessions will last 1 hour depending on the student and their needs. I aim to provide a fun, safe learning environment where students feel supported and I will always cater my style to the individual and what helps you to learn the best way for you. I have 8 years of experience working within the UK Government and public organisations since graduating in 2016 and also have direct knowledge on public policy, and in particular public health policy. I am also happy to cater to individuals if they need slightly shorter or longer sessions.
