About Beny
During my gap year I tutored a number of GCSE students who lacked confidence in maths (actually they hated it). All my students achieved 1 - 2 levels above predicted grades. Maths can be quite intimidating, and one of the biggest problems I find students can have with it is if they feel themselves falling behind, it can be just too difficult to get ahead.
I try to help students get back on top of maths, by breaking the problems down slowly and building them back up again with clarity, so that maths doesn't seem that intimidating anymore.

I typically do GCSE maths sessions 1 hour in length, though can do 2 hour sessions.
My plan is to grasp the student's confidence and level of ability in Maths, usually by going over the syllabus and ascertaining their understanding of the content.
Through specific examples, I help clarify the areas of difficulty, often using multiple approaches to ensure the student understands. Once they feel more confident with their understanding of the subject, to lock in the knowledge, practice is best, so I would assign practice questions as homework or during the lesson
