About Janell
Hello, my name is Janell, and I am a dedicated and patient tutor with a strong passion for helping students reach their academic potential. I am currently a third-year Bachelor of Diagnostic Ultrasound student, which has strengthened my analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to explain complex concepts clearly and logically. I understand how valuable it is to have someone who believes in you and takes the time to explain things properly. This motivates me to be a supportive and reliable person for students who may be struggling or need guidance.

My teaching approach is centered on understanding how each student learns, not just what they are learning. What makes me unique as a tutor is that I focus on identifying the root of a student’s struggles (whether it is gaps in foundational knowledge, exam technique, confidence, or time management) and then adapting my teaching style to suit their specific needs.
I tutor mainly in Afrikaans, with English used when needed, ensuring students feel comfortable asking questions and expressing where they are confused. My lessons are structured but flexible, allowing room for revision, practice questions, and targeted problem-solving.
In a typical lesson, students can expect clear explanations, step-by-step guidance, and practical examples aimed at improving both understanding and marks. I encourage active participation and focus on building confidence, not just memorization.
My lessons are suitable for a wide range of learners, from students who are struggling or failing and need extra support to pass to motivated students aiming for a distinction. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, learning pace, and academic level, ensuring the best possible outcomes.
