About Nourhan
Having achieved all 9s at GCSE, I am well equipped to instil students with the confidence and skills to achieve highly. My philosophy is that if you can’t explain something, then you don’t truly understand it! I implement this in my lessons by breaking down concepts to students until they have mastered the fundamentals. For the past 2 years, my approach has helped students improve by up to 3 grades in time for their final examinations. A few years ago, I was in the same position as most tutees, and so I can identify the concepts that cause the most challenge to students to help them gain full mastery of the topic. I have also successfully tutored students for the 11+, helping them gain entry into top grammar schools in Manchester.

For the first lesson, I will set a small assignment for the student to complete and ask them to provide any recent test scores to gauge the level they are working at. The typical length of a lesson is 1 hour, which will be split into sections. The first involves a short starter task to consolidate and strengthen synoptic links between topics. The second is where the student is familiarised with the content, followed by the necessary exam techniques needed to secure marks on exams. Effective learning strategies such as active recall and spaced repetition will form the basis of most lessons. Also, lessons will be tailored to the student's exam board to ensure they are taught the correct specification points. The lessons will be taught over Google Classroom, where Miro (a digital whiteboard) will be used for the student and I to work on problems. This will simulate the experience of working face-to-face and writing on the same sheet of paper, so the student will receive instant feedback. The student's progress will be tracked using weekly/fortnightly tests, enabling me to analyse their performance and pinpoint areas for improvement.
