About Mary Ann
Hello! My name is Mary Ann, and I am an experienced ESL teacher with over five years of helping students from around the world improve their English skills.
I am passionate about creating a friendly, supportive, and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves in English. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and conversational, allowing learners to build confidence while developing their speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation skills.
I have taught students of different ages and proficiency levels—from complete beginners to advanced learners—and I enjoy tailoring each lesson to meet my students' individual goals and learning styles. My Approach as an ESL Tutor
My teaching approach is student-centered, interactive, and conversational. I believe that students learn English best when they feel comfortable, encouraged, and actively involved in the lesson. I create a positive and supportive learning environment where students can practice speaking with confidence while improving their grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and listening skills.
Teaching Method and Techniques
I use the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach, which focuses on helping students use English naturally in real-life situations. My lessons include guided conversations, role-playing, pronunciation practice, vocabulary building, grammar explanations, and speaking activities tailored to each student's goals. I also provide constructive feedback throughout the lesson to help students recognize their strengths and improve areas that need more practice.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a friendly greeting and a brief warm-up conversation to build confidence and assess the student's current level. Next, we introduce the lesson objective, whether it's learning new vocabulary, practicing grammar, improving pronunciation, or developing conversational skills. We then complete interactive exercises, discussions, and speaking activities that allow students to apply what they have learned. At the end of the lesson, I review the key points, provide personalized feedback, and suggest ways to continue practicing outside of class.
