Hello! My name is Gemma. As a Professional Teacher and TEFL-certified English educator, my career spans a decade of classroom and online teaching across all levels, backgrounds, ages, and topics. My diverse experience includes working as a kindergarten homeroom teacher, a secondary GCSE English teacher, and a phonics and literacy specialist at a language institute. This extensive background allows me to expertly support international school students with Common Core, exam prep, essay writing, and story analysis, as well as provide targeted communication coaching to professionals.

Methodology & Approach
This isn't another boring lecture where learners come for a snooze! Our classes at A-Z English Online prioritise Student-Centred Learning and maximise Student Talk Time (STT). We simulate a native speaker’s exposure to English, creating a fully immersive environment where children learn to communicate naturally—just like they do in their first language.
Class Formats & Target Audience
Our curriculum is mapped against the CEFR framework and mirrors Cambridge English Qualifications (Pre-A1 Starters to A2 Flyers) for children aged 4 to 12:
Dynamic Mixed Group Classes: Capped at 4 to 6 students to create a miniature international community. Pupils practise with diverse backgrounds, gain exposure to a variety of real-world accents, and build global confidence.
Individual 1-on-1 Classes: Designed as a safe launchpad for particularly shy students. We focus on high-intensity coaching with the definitive goal of progressing them into our group classes once their baseline confidence grows.
️ Typical Lesson Length
Durations are engineered to match young learners' natural cognitive attention spans:
Ages 4–6 (Foundation Track): 25 minutes to maintain high-energy focus.
Ages 7–12 (Group Tracks): 45 minutes for deeper conversational production.All Private 1-on-1 Lessons: 25 minutes of 100% focused speaking interaction.
About Your Tutor, Gemma
Hello, I’m Gemma! I am a TEFL-certified educator with over 10 years of combined in-person and online ESL teaching experience. I have served as a kindergarten homeroom teacher at a bilingual school, as well as a secondary English teacher in the UK, preparing students for their GCSEs (and everything in between). Using Total Physical Response (TPR) and gamified strategies, I expertly guide children from absolute zero-baselines to fluid conversational fluency.
