About English with Shóna
Hello! I’m Shóna, a native English speaker from Ireland and a certified TEFL teacher with a degree in Spanish and Asian Studies. I’m passionate about languages and communication, and I love helping others gain the skills and confidence to express themselves in English. I’ve worked with both children and adults, and I adapt every lesson to suit the student’s goals, level, and learning style. Whether you’re a complete beginner, a shy speaker, or someone who wants to improve their fluency for work, travel, or daily life—I’m here to support you every step of the way. Having studied multiple languages myself, I understand how challenging and rewarding it can be to learn a new one. That’s why my lessons are encouraging, practical, and interactive, always focused on helping you feel comfortable and confident when using English in real situations. My Approach to Tutoring English I create engaging, supportive, and student-centered lessons that build confidence and fluency in English. I believe language learning should be both practical and enjoyable, so I use a mix of conversation practice, games, real-life scenarios, grammar support, and pronunciation training to suit each learner’s goals. My approach is flexible—some students need structured grammar lessons, while others prefer relaxed, conversational practice. I adapt to your pace and needs, and I always encourage progress with patience and positivity. Lesson Length A typical lesson is 1 hour, but I can adjust depending on your schedule or learning goals. My Experience I'm a TEFL-certified English tutor from Ireland, with a degree in Spanish and Asian Studies. I’ve worked with both children and adults, including absolute beginners and intermediate learners, and I speak multiple languages myself—so I understand the challenges of learning from the student's point of view.
