About Michele
ESA funds accepted (invoice provided for parent reimbursement).
I am a passionate English teacher with 28 years of classroom experience and over nine years tutoring students one-on-one and in small groups. I help students improve their reading, writing, grammar, and critical thinking skills, as well as prepare for the SAT. I hold a Master’s in Education in Instructional Technology, which allows me to integrate modern strategies and resources into every lesson.
I love teaching and take pride in creating engaging, personalized lessons that meet each student where they are. My sessions include guided examples, step-by-step explanations, and notes that I provide to every student, ensuring they leave with clear understanding and tools to succeed. I also offer access to a wide range of resources and materials, helping students practice skills independently and gain confidence in their abilities.
Whether we focus on essay organization, breaking down prompts, MLA formatting, or advanced grammar and syntax, my goal is to make English skills accessible, meaningful, and enjoyable. Students leave my lessons not only more skilled but more confident and prepared for school and future success.

How My Lessons Work
I provide student-centered English support designed to meet each student’s unique needs. I offer both individual lessons to focus on a specific skill, and ongoing tutoring sessions for consistent progress and long-term confidence in reading, writing, and English overall.
Each lesson is structured, engaging, and personalized, combining clear instruction with active practice and immediate feedback. Students work through examples with my guidance, participate in discussions, and apply strategies independently, all while building skills at their own pace.
By the end of each session, students gain improved academic skills, increased confidence, and a deeper understanding of English that will support them in school and beyond.
In addition to tutoring, I offer professional proofreading and detailed essay feedback. I review papers for clarity, organization, grammar, syntax, MLA formatting, and overall effectiveness. Rather than simply correcting errors, I provide clear explanations and written comments so students understand how to strengthen their writing independently. This service is ideal for high school and college students who want to refine essays, research papers, or application writing before submission.
I also offer small group lessons capped at six students to ensure each participant receives meaningful attention and feedback. Group sessions provide the added benefit of collaborative discussion, shared ideas, and peer learning while still maintaining a focused and supportive environment. Students often gain confidence by hearing different perspectives and practicing skills together. These sessions are ideal for SAT prep, grammar workshops, writing intensives, or targeted skill development.

After working with Michele on the English portion of the SAT, both of my children saw a noticeable jump in their scores. She showed them practical strategies for understanding passages, identifying what each question was really asking, and avoiding common mistakes. More importantly, they went into the test feeling prepared and confident instead of overwhelmed. The results spoke for themselves, and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking to strengthen their child’s SAT English performance.
As a parent of both a seventh grader and an eleventh grader, I can honestly say that working with Michele has made a noticeable difference in both of my children’s academic confidence and performance.
What impressed me most is how she didn’t just help with homework. She truly taught them *how to think*. Both of my kids learned how to break down a writing prompt step by step, gather and evaluate research, and turn their ideas into well-structured, thoughtful essays. My daughter, in particular, has grown so much in her ability to organize complex ideas and write with clarity and purpose.
With my seventh grade son, Michele went even further. She helped him develop essential study skills that he had been struggling with for years. She showed him how to use his planner effectively, stay organized, and actually keep track of assignments and deadlines. That alone has been a game changer for our household.
Michele is patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly skilled at meeting each student where they are while still pushing them to grow. I would highly recommend her to any parent looking not just for tutoring, but for real, lasting academic skill-building.
I have worked with Michele for the past 19 years and have consistently been impressed by her professionalism, dedication, and instructional expertise.
She sets high expectations for her students and pairs those expectations with effectively scaffolded support to ensure that all learners have the opportunity to succeed.
Very often, many of Michele's clients are preparing to apply for highly competitive universities, and those clients praise her ability to help them reach ambitious academic goals.
Michele IS the master class.
As a parent, I am happy to recommend Michele as a tutor. When we were looking for support for our middle schooler and two high school students, we needed someone who could adapt to very different ages, skill levels, and personalities, and she exceeded every expectation.
One of my children is in middle school and needed help building strong foundations in writing and study skills. Michele was incredibly patient, breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps and making sure there was true understanding. We saw a noticeable boost not only in grades, but in confidence.
For my high schoolers, the support has been just as impressive. Whether it’s writing, reading comprehension, or SAT preparation, lessons are always organized, challenging, and tailored to each student’s needs. My older two have become more independent learners, better at managing their time, and far less anxious before exams.
What truly sets Michele apart is her reliability and genuine investment in each student’s success. She communicates clearly and provides thoughtful feedback. She also creates a supportive environment where my kids feel comfortable asking questions.
If you’re looking for someone who is knowledgeable, dependable, and truly cares about helping students grow academically and personally, I wholeheartedly recommend Michele for both middle school and high school students.I originally hired Michele to work with my daughter in preparation of the PSAT. My daughter and I found her to be incredibly helpful, so they continued working together through not only her sophomore but her junior year in high school. Michele makes the content relatable and helped my daughter enjoy writing. She also taught my daughter tips to help with reading comprehension and organization which benefitted her in other classes as well. When our youngest gets to high school, we already know we want him to work with Michele too.
Michele has worked with my son, currently a junior in high school, as well as a number of the children of friends and acquaintances. She is always well prepared and engaging. She has helped my son tremendously. As a teacher myself, I have such respect for all she does for her students. The amount of time, energy, expertise and care she puts into the sessions with her students is unparalleled.
My son Reed worked with Ms. Michele in 8th and 9th grade. He struggled with writing essays, how to brainstorm, and structure them. Ms. Michele was patient and always gave Reed strong examples and support. She taught him how to break down prompts and taught him how to organize his thoughts. By the end of 9th grade Reed was getting A's on his papers, and the two of them focused on editing since he was able to write his papers on his own. This year he is a sophomore in advanced English. He has an A, and I thank Ms. Michele for her help.
