About Kathleen
I have taught all of the elementary subjects, and especially enjoy math, English, and history. Of those, however, math is my favorite. Though I have never taught in a high school classroom, I have tutored high school students in algebra and geometry.
My best friend and I co-founded a private non-graded school in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The school has been and continues to be a safe haven of learning for hundreds of students.

Many students have a dislike of math, and I believe that stems from how it is taught. If a student does not have a strong math foundation, each successive year of math becomes more difficult. Comprehension of the basic operations is essential. When necessary, I back up to help the student build a strong foundation and master that comprehension. From that point, moving forward is much easier! Many of my students share that they actually enjoy math once they have the necessary tools and understanding. That is a true joy to me.
