My approach to tutoring is student-centered, engaging, and tailored to each learner's needs. I believe students learn best when they can connect historical events, government systems, and civic concepts to real-world issues and their own experiences. My goal is not only to improve academic performance but also to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and confidence.
I begin by assessing a student's strengths, challenges, and learning style. From there, I create personalized lessons that incorporate discussion, primary source analysis, graphic organizers, current events, and interactive activities. I use questioning strategies to encourage deeper thinking and help students make meaningful connections between concepts.
A typical lesson includes:
• A brief review of previous learning and goals
• Direct instruction on key concepts and vocabulary
• Guided practice through discussion, document analysis, or problem-solving
• Independent application of skills
• A summary and plan for continued growth
What sets me apart is more than 25 years of experience in education as a teacher, instructional leader, and Chief Academic Officer. I have successfully supported students from diverse backgrounds and understand how to differentiate instruction to meet individual needs. I make complex concepts accessible, engaging, and relevant.
My tutoring services are ideal for middle school, high school, and early college students studying U.S. History, World History, Government, Civics, Economics, Political Science, AP Social Studies courses, and test preparation.
