About Ella
"I only feel I’ve made progress in the last half-year since studying with Ella." - Student testimonial
I am an experienced Arabic tutor that loves unravelling the complexities of the Arabic language. I have been teaching Arabic for more than two years and have more than 25 students.
I graduated from SOAS, University of London with a BA in Arabic in 2018. As part of my degree, I spent a year abroad in Palestine.
I have an excellent command of Modern Standard Arabic grammar and vocabulary and am an enthusiastic and patient teacher.
About me:
Born in China to Dutch parents and raised in Singapore, I chose to study Arabic at degree level to continue my exploration of the world. Little did I know at the time, my Arabic studies would put me on the path to Islam. Living in Nablus for a year exposed me not only to Arabic, but also to the generosity of the Palestinian people.
I converted halfway through my year-abroad and have been Muslim for more than three years now. My knowledge of Arabic has enriched my experience as a believer and I am deeply passionate about helping others to unlock the beauty of the language.

I always prepare sessions that are perfectly tailored to the needs of my students. Whether you are a beginner, or have studied Arabic before, I break down complex topics and make them simple and enjoyable to study.
If you are studying Arabic to better understand the Holy Qur'an - you are in the right place. I have continued my Arabic studies at an advanced level at Islamic institutions and can assist in learning Qur'anic grammar and vocabulary.
With more advanced students, I read the Stories of the Prophets as well as other texts.

Ella is an amazing tutor and has been teaching me Arabic so I can engage better with Arabic texts and the Quran. She has a very organized and clear way of teaching that firmly establishes key grammatical concepts along with Arabic vocabulary. She is very supportive and works hard to tailor her teaching to what you want the most out of your Arabic tuition. I definitely recommend Ella to anyone wanting to develop their Arabic!
