About Clent
I am an honors graduate of Jackson State University with a BS (Bachelor of Science) in Biology. While attending college, I was a member of the marching band (trumpet), known as," The Sonic Boom of the South." I was active in many organizations and pledged both Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Following college, I attended Southern Illinois University (Carbondale) where I did both post- baccalaureate and graduate work (Physiology). I have been in the field of education for over twenty years with both elementary and high school teaching experience. I am both data and results driven. I have a passion for teaching and am a third-generation educator. I strive to maintain academic rigor while making learning engaging and fun. Aside from teaching, I enjoy travel, reading, music and spending time with family and friends.

As far as lessons go at the onset, I ask to see the curriculum being used, the syllabus and access to Canvas (student portal) to view the week in a glance and prepare a synopsis of the concepts being taught so that I can review them with my students to ensure that they have a firm understanding moving forward. If additional practice is required, I create assignments to further assist them in mastering the material. I taught special education for two years, so I am adept at modifying assignments when needed while retaining academic rigor. I am personable yet firm about us in partnership achieving our desired outcomes. I firmly believe that through a collective effort between the teachers, parents, student and myself, we can turn around any situation making what may have appeared impossible, indeed possible.
