About Evan
I am a dedicated tutor with 9 years of experience teaching Chess to high school and college students, having guided around 300 learners throughout my career. My teaching approach is rooted in the belief that every student learns differently, and I take pride in crafting lessons that align with each individual’s strengths, challenges, and learning styles. By combining structured instruction with creative problem-solving exercises, I help students not only understand the game but also develop critical thinking, patience, and strategic foresight—skills that extend beyond the chessboard. Over the years, I have worked with students at varying levels, from beginners taking their first steps into the world of chess to competitive players striving to refine their skills. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my approach to suit individual needs—whether that means using visual aids for tactical understanding, breaking down complex strategies into simple steps, or conducting practical play sessions to reinforce concepts. This personalised approach ensures that both beginners and advanced players feel supported as they work toward their goals. Clarity is at the centre of my lessons. I make sure each concept, from opening principles to advanced endgame strategies, is explained in a way that is easy to grasp and immediately applicable in games. My lessons balance theory with practice, giving students the confidence to apply what they learn in real matches. Besides Chess, I also teach relevant analytical and strategic subjects, making it easier for students to build strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. My goal is to create an engaging and empowering learning environment where students not only improve their gameplay but also develop a deeper appreciation for the intellectual beauty of chess.
