About Jill
Hello, I am Dr. Jill Bartholomew, EdD. I have a passion for education and have been running my tutoring company, Mad Wizard Tutoring, since 2020. I am certified to tutor all K-12 core subjects, but I do specialize in reading and writing interventions. I have worked with a diverse range of students of all ages, from early elementary to doctoral levels. I believe in a growth mindset philosophy in education, and just because you feel like you can't learn something, it doesn't mean you won't be able to master that subject with my professional assistance. I also work with adult learners, whether they are trying to pass a test like the GED or are enrolled in college. I want to help my students believe in themselves and their abilities. Math can be an especially intimidating subject, but I believe in growth mindset learning principles. Just because it's hard doesn't mean you can't learn how to master mathematical principles yet. I am familiar with the current mathematics curriculum taught in most public and charter school systems. I like to work with the homework assigned by the teacher to the student, although I will use intervention techniques if we need to back up to address any learning gaps. I rely on a combination of old school techniques like memorizing times tables and incorporating new games and other methods to help my students master their math. I usually work with K-12 students, although I have a doctoral degree in education and am familiar with quantitative methods used in research. Remember Dr. Jill Bartholomew, the Mad Wizard tutor.
