About Amy
Hello! My name is Amy, and I am a dedicated and passionate Science educator with a BSc in Chemical Science and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCSE) in FET Physics and Senior Phase Mathematics. I currently teach at a private school, where I deliver engaging lessons in Lower Secondary Science, IGCSE Chemistry and Physics, and AS Chemistry — all within the Cambridge curriculum. I have been teaching the Cambridge curriculum for almost two years, and I take pride in making science accessible, enjoyable, and easier to understand. My teaching style is student-focused, supportive, and structured to build both knowledge and confidence. I believe that with the right guidance, every student can succeed in science — and even come to love it! I work hard to ensure my lessons are clear, interactive, and tailored to each learner’s needs. As a bubbly and approachable tutor with a strong science background, I offer engaging and interactive lessons tailored to each student's needs. My teaching style is grounded in making real-world connections—whether it’s linking abstract scientific concepts to everyday scenarios or incorporating practical activities to deepen understanding. I create a relaxed learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, participating actively, and working through problems at a comfortable pace. I teach in English, but I have a good understanding of Afrikaans, and my lessons are aimed at upper primary to high school students, including those preparing for exams or needing extra support in Science and Maths. Students can expect a fun yet focused session where concepts are clearly broken down, humour is welcome, and learning feels both enjoyable and meaningful.
