About Evie
Hello :) I'm Evie, and I study Theoretical Physics at the University of Birmingham. I have worked as a tutor for ages 4-18 for two years now and my goal is to always help people reach the answer themselves rather than just telling them as I believe this is a much better way of learning! Although my main areas of study are Maths and Physics, I completed the 11+ exam myself and have been tutoring 11+ for a few years now, so I am very confident in this area too. I am fully DBS-checked and also have a lot of experince working with SEN children.
At this moment in time I offer sessions at my home in the Harborne area, though I am happy to tutor in a public space or your home if it is nearby. If you are looking for tutoring in any of these topics or have any questions regarding my teaching style, go ahead and message me!

I am focussed on adapting lessons to each individual child's style of working, be it incorporating diagrams, highlighting key information or using physical examples to encourage understanding. Before the session begins, I will discuss with you and your student what they would like to focus on and collect some relevent example questions to practice with. Then, during the session, I would ask the student to attempt a question, noting which parts they struggle with and then concentrating the session on these areas. I believe that the best way of learning is by the students figuring out for themselves how to approach a problem, so I use a lot of open questions and positive reinforcement to achieve this end. I also provide full spoken or written feedback following the session to keep you up-to-date with progress.
