About Alexis
I am on an exciting journey to become a professor of pathophysiology and immunology, and teaching science is truly my passion. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Biochemistry, as well as a Master of Science degree in Biology. During my master’s program, I conducted research on the physiology of the eye, specifically how it adapts to light and dark conditions—a fascinating area of study! Alongside my research, I taught several college-level courses and mentored undergraduate students in the lab, helping them develop their skills and confidence in scientific research. After completing my degree, I expanded my teaching experience by working as a substitute teacher in private and charter schools in the Austin area. These opportunities allowed me to connect with students of all ages and backgrounds, strengthening my ability to adapt my teaching methods to meet each student’s unique needs. I have recently become a Professor of Anatomy and Physiology and General Biology at St. Edward’s University. My dedication to education, combined with my research experience, allows me to make science relatable, engaging, and accessible. I’m excited to share my knowledge and help students achieve their academic goals!
