About Thomas
Hi, I love teaching science and maths; I'm confident that I've inspired many students over the years to take up A levels, university courses and careers in the sciences. My students, whatever their ability, have seemed to find me approachable and are comfortable sharing their concerns about the topics they need help with. I can remember the times when I found things difficult at school - I try to keep those experiences in mind when teaching. A bit about me. I graduated with a master's degree in Astrophysics in 2008 from UCL (ranked top 10 globally). I delivered maths and science courses at an independent school in London for over a decade. I've also worked for an agency as a vetted tutor, at a top tuition centre and organised small group exam coaching sessions. I live in Lewes with my partner and our adopted dog. I've helped a very diverse range of students from adult learners trying to gain confidence in maths to child geniuses going for 100% A level results. If I seem like a good fit, then please just let me know your situation and what your goals are. I'm always happy to respond to questions and offer my advice even if I don't have availability.

My approach to tutoring has been developed over thousands of lessons. These are things I think I do well: - gauge the student's understanding and adapt the lesson to fit them as we go. - create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere free from pressure I’ve always been available to my students year-round until the job is done. In fact, I've supported some students through their entire academic journey from year 7 until they went off to university. Thomas is an outstanding physics tutor who is always reliable and courteous. After a few months of working with him, we noticed a significant improvement in our daughter's confidence and attitude towards the subject. We would definitely recommend him.
