About Layla
I have cultivated a deep passion for Excel through years of working with data and understanding how structured analysis can simplify complex decision-making processes. My educational background includes a B.Sc in Business Analytics and an M.Sc in Information Systems, which provided me with comprehensive knowledge of both practical data handling and theoretical information management concepts. Over 7 years of teaching, I have helped students gain confidence and mastery in Excel, supporting learners from novice users to those preparing for professional roles requiring advanced spreadsheet skills.
My teaching philosophy emphasises hands-on practice, real-world applications, and stepwise explanations. I encourage learners to experiment, ask questions, and explore different problem-solving approaches, all while providing structured guidance tailored to individual learning styles. I focus on cultivating both competence and confidence, ensuring students feel capable of applying Excel skills in academic and professional scenarios.

My Excel lessons aim to make learners comfortable, confident, and proficient with spreadsheets. I cover essential functions, formulae, pivot tables, charts, conditional formatting, data visualisation, lookup operations, and automation using macros. Each lesson combines detailed explanations with practical exercises to ensure students not only understand how to execute tasks but also why each function or feature is useful in different scenarios. My goal is to help learners translate their skills into efficiency, accuracy, and problem-solving capabilities in both academic and professional contexts.
Beginners focus on learning the basics, such as entering data, simple formulae, formatting, and creating charts. Intermediate learners practice advanced formulae, pivot tables, conditional formatting, and scenario analysis. Advanced learners explore automation using macros, building dashboards, data modelling, and integrating Excel with other software for reporting and analysis. Each session includes hands-on exercises, practice problems, and step-by-step guidance to reinforce comprehension and practical application.
Excel proficiency strengthens logical thinking, structured problem-solving, and data interpretation skills. Learners gain confidence in managing data efficiently, generating insights, and presenting information clearly. My goal is to equip learners with practical expertise that enhances productivity, enables informed decision-making, and ensures they can handle complex data tasks independently and accurately.
