About Robert
I am an enthusiastic, spontaneous teacher who attaches great importance to a personal bond with my students. Learning works best when you understand why something is important for you to know and when you feel like you can do something with it. I would like to work with you to identify areas in which you would like to develop further.
We always look together at what exactly you want to learn and then draw up a plan. If you are still at school or following a training course, we can use the teaching materials you received there, but we can always work with other materials. During our first introductory lesson we can explore all options.

Classroom teaching is something I do with passion, but for me there is nothing like that personal contact with a student that comes when you can really take the time to explain something in a way that suits their needs.
Lessons for students:
Because of my work experience and previous education, in addition to English, I can also provide support for:
Geography, Nask / Physics and Chemistry, Mathematics, Dutch
A tutoring session lasts 60 minutes, but I also like to do longer sessions, so that we can delve deeper into the material, or, for example, look at multiple subjects. The lessons can be given in both Dutch and English. Multiple students at the same time is also possible.
Lessons for adults:
In addition to tutoring for secondary and primary school students, I also offer English or Dutch tutoring for adults, for example if you have to take a language course for work, write a text or give a lecture. During the first meeting we can discuss together what exactly you need and how we can best practice. The lessons can be given in both Dutch and English.
My approach:
-First understand why it is important to learn something or what you can do with it. Then get to work on it yourself: learn by doing. Dare to make mistakes.
-Everyone learns differently. What works for one person doesn't work at all for another. Together we can look for which learning methods work best for you. For high school students, I can also contact the subject teacher or mentor if necessary.
-I don't know everything either. But with an open, curious attitude you can always learn something new. Learning works best when someone is confident and has the opportunity to try things out for themselves. As a teacher, my role is to help my students with this.
My experience:
-Several years of teaching secondary school education as an English teacher at various schools in Utrecht and the surrounding area. I also have experience in adapting existing teaching materials to make them more suitable for the student's personal learning path, as well as in developing my own teaching materials.
-Tutoring/exam training for physics/nask, mathematics, geography, Dutch.
-Cambridge Advanced English C2 Certificate
-Extensive experience with writing articles, essays and other text forms in both English and Dutch.
-Skilled in beta and gamma sciences (relevant for subjects such as physics, chemistry, science, geography and mathematics) as part of my environmental sciences bachelor degree.
