About Laura
I hold a first-class degree in Scandinavian Studies and Linguistics from the University of Edinburgh. I apply my experience of linguistics in my teaching so can find ways to make even very difficult grammar and pronunciation points possible to grasp. My degree and my roles as a French and Norwegian lecturer and an English teacher mean I understand the challenges students face as second language learners, and how to overcome them. I am an ardent advocate for multilingualism and my enthusiasm is infectious.

English: I am a native English speaker, and hold a 140-hour TEFL teaching certificate. I have taught English at a private school in Hebei, China, where I put together and delivered a comprehensive and engaging English course.
French: I studied French up to A-level and for two years of my degree. I have also lived for a year in French speaking countries and have developed my fluency. I was a French lecturer at Leeds Beckett University and have successfully applied for a PGCE in Secondary French with German.
Norwegian: I studied Norwegian up to degree level and lived in Northern Norway for a year. There, I helped migrants learning Norwegian for their Trinn Tre exams, and here in the UK I was a Norwegian Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University.
German: I studied German up to A-level and frequently spend time in Berlin with my sister who lives there. I can tutor German up to B1 level currently, but I can also offer guidance on difficult grammar points for all levels.
