About James
I have 11 A*s or equivalent at GCSE, including a 9 in Mathematics and an A^ (equivalent to an A**) in Further Mathematics. I have achieved 4 A*s at A-Level in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Economics.
I have been a professional A-level maths tutor for 2 years, helping pupils understand difficult concepts and achieve top grades. Before that, I was involved in a Mathematics GCSE mentoring project in secondary schools, for which I mentored around 30 students whilst in sixth form. This has developed my ability to explain difficult concepts in an accessible way.

In the first session I will give the student a short exam covering the parts of the relevant specification that they have covered thus far to determine what topics should be focussed on in the subsequent sessions. During each subsequent session I will explain the concept, go through an example and set the student a worksheet on the topic. I will then set a short homework exercise on the same topic to help the student to consolidate their knowledge. I believe that building a good relationship with the student is essential for tutoring to be effective. I am friendly and professional.
