About Hamza
Hi everyone! My name is Hamza and I am a Cambridge master's degree graduate. I am an enthusiastic and approachable Maths and Economics tutor with over two years of tutoring experience. Here is a bit about my background so you can get to know me better.
It may sound cheesy, but I genuinely fell in love with Economics at first sight. I began studying the subject in 2010, with the UK still reeling from the havoc wreaked by the financial crisis. Having always been an avid follower of current affairs, economics provided the perfect toolkit to help me deconstruct the news and truly understand what had happened.
I moved on to study Economics at the LSE in 2014. More recently, I have graduated from the University of Cambridge, where I studied Finance and Economics. During my time at university, I was very involved in charity work, even participating in two charity hitchhikes to raise money for Syrian refugees.
I know first-hand the anxiety and stress that exams can induce. I understand how isolating and frustrating it can be to be totally lost during lessons. It can be difficult to raise your concerns during class time, so through one on one tuition I focus on being as approachable as possible. There is no such thing as a stupid question, and I am here to help with any concerns you may have. I draw on my personal study techniques to help provide clarity and structure, and, most importantly, to help build your confidence.
My approach to tutoring each student is entirely tailored to the student’s needs, at a pace that they are comfortable with, to achieve their specific goals. I draw on my two years of tutoring experience (both privately and on a volunteer basis) and my personal experiences studying for exams to help devise a comprehensive and manageable study plan that fits the specific needs of the individual.
I focus on addressing the weaknesses of the student as a priority, as well as cementing their strengths, and I employ real world examples as much as possible to complement the explanation of theoretical concepts. Furthermore, I emphasise regular testing to ensure that student can apply the knowledge practically and to solidify the student’s understanding of the concepts. This also provides me with a measure of the student’s progress and allows me to identify problem areas to go over again, to ensure the student can perform at their maximum on exam day.
