About Emily
I'm an MEng Engineering Science graduate specialising in Information Engineering from Oxford University and have been tutoring Mathematics part-time since 2017.
I learnt most of my understanding of Mathematics from a teacher who taught me for a single year. He's the person I aspire to be for my students - a teacher who teaches problem-solving and critical thinking and sets you up for life-long success in mathematics and associated disciplines such as Physics.

There has to be a good fit between students and teachers in order to facilitate learning. That's why I offer an initial trial lesson free (1/2 hour) to see if my teaching style aligns with you and to set goals for lessons.
I have experience teaching IGCSE, SAT and IB Mathematics (KS4/6th Form) but am available to teach KS3 Mathematics as well and Physics. Prior students have improved their SAT Math portion scores by 200 points (not guaranteed on an individual basis).
I teach from first principles to deepen understanding of the subject matter and problem-solving skills rather than encourage rote memorisation. Typical lesson lengths are 1-1.5 hours and I recommend engagement with the material on their own outside lesson times and provide additional resources to do so.
