Many fanfics come to be so famous and good, that they end up being published as books after changing the names of the characters. It has been happening since the times of Xena and continues with tv shows like The 100. But there are pretty much about anything: Harry Potter, Buffy, Dragon Age ... If you can imagine it, almost certainly somewhere in the world someone has written a fanfic . Another advantage is that you learn much more from the English-speaking culture than any textbook can teach you.
