About Josie

I’m Josie, a writing tutor specializing in essay and creative writing. I come with over five years’ experience teaching students across a wide range of ages and levels, from primary school through to senior secondary (Both HSC & VCE).

I started tutoring because I love the moment a student’s writing suddenly clicks and their confidence starts to build. Working with different age groups has shown me that strong writers are built step by step. Younger students need ideas, a simple structure and a love of storytelling. While older students need clear arguments, sharper analysis and confidence under exam conditions.

I don’t write the work for students. I coach them to write it themselves, so the skills stay with them long after our lessons.

About the lesson

Whether you need to lift your HSC/university marks or want to write fiction and creative pieces you’re proud of. Lessons are tailored to your goals with detailed and honest feedback on your own writing. Good writing is a skill you can learn, I teach it as a process. Always willing to alter sessions to suit your style.

How my sessions work:

Learn the method, then apply it: I teach a clear technique, we try it together and then you write.

Detailed feedback: I mark your work with specific comments and explain why a change improves it so you learn to fix it yourself next time.

Rewrite and refine: Revising is where real improvement happens so we reshape drafts together.

Practice between lessons: Short tasks keep your progress moving and you’ll leave each session with clear next steps.
