About Lizeth
Hi, my name is Lizeth Benavides. I'm a bilingual, open-minded, and inclusive teacher, whose mission is to inspire our new generations in the English language arts field.
I have been in Education since high school, as part of the Texas Association of Future Educators, and I have continued my journey through college, majoring in the English Language Arts with a Teaching Certification for 7th-12th grade from the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley.
I am also a Teach for America alumni, and a dedicated and experienced AP English Teacher for IDEA Public Schools and the Brownsville Independent School District. I am also an experienced English Language tutor and mentor in the Upward Bound program from the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley.

Hi, welcome to my English Language Academy!
I offer two types of tutoring for HS students and adults:
*University Writing (for English natives, focused on writing skills)
*English Acquisition (for non-English natives, focused on language learning- Disclaimer: Sessions are fully in English)
The lessons consist of the following sessions:
-One on One: 60 min lesson of in-depth tutoring
-Regular: 30 min session that focuses on one skill or assignment
-Quick: 15 min review session, in which I proofread an already created writing piece and offer you advice on next steps
The lesson plan depends on the chosen session:
-One on One: Agenda, goals, debrief, introduction, guided practice, independent practice, assessment/ work completion.
-Regular: Agenda, goals, debrief, introduction, guided practice, assessment/ work completion, or next steps.
-Quick: Goals/ debrief, guided practice, next steps.
Typically, a session will begin with an overview of the agenda and/ or the goals for the session. The student will do a quick debrief of what they aim to accomplish by the end of the session (i.e. drafting a college entrance essay, research paper formatting, ELA exam review, or a language skill, such as grammar or pronunciation). The teacher will then either introduce the students to a skill or concept, or guide them through their assignment step by step. By the end of the session, the student will be either assessed or given a set of resources and next steps to be able to finish their assignments off tutoring.
