English teacher gives reading, writing, and oral communication lessons online in London, Ontario

I am pleased to write this recommendation for Iva Stankovic. I have personally known Iva for 8 years.

Iva contacted me at the end of March and offered to tutor my 3 children (in grades 3, 5 and 10) when school was cancelled in March. Iva started her Alternative Field placement on March 30th- April 27th, 2020. During her Field placement she tutored my 3 boys in the following subjects: Math, English, Civics/Careers, Art and Science for a minimum of 5 hours a day Monday to Saturday.

Graciously, Iva volunteered her time after her placement to continue tutoring my 3 boys for 3 hours each day until the end of June (April 28th-June 25th).

This was not an easy task to complete with 3 boys, but Iva did a fantastic job each day with all my boys. Iva was very organized and maintained a high standard for my boys and pushed them to do more than the bare minimum required each day. On her own time, Iva would look up new learning websites and best ways to keep them engaged in online learning. I would like to mention that my one son has a learning disability that he was being tested for at school and unfortunately we did not receive the results before school was cancelled, so online learning for him was not easy and sometimes frustrating. Iva was able to successfully guide him, tailor his learning and keep him on track

I have known and worked with Iva as a teacher-colleague for two years and can speak highly of her character and excellence as an educator. Iva is a calm yet confident teacher who consistently demonstrates current best practices; she always plans her lessons extensively and thoughtfully, using both backwards design and three-part lesson design to ensure that materials are highly engaging, purposeful and personalized. Further, Iva has a highly approachable demeanor that allows her quickly build rapport with at-risk students. Iva has consistently facilitated inclusive learning environments (be they large group, small group, or one-on-one), and always explicitly models respectful discussion norms while teaching. I highly recommend Iva as an educator and a tutor.

I have had the pleasure of being one of Ms. Iva Stankovic's pupils for a considerable length of time.   Iva is an outstanding English teacher.  I highly recommend Iva for any position of English teacher or tutor, and assure you that she would be an enthusiastic teacher of the highest caliber should you decide to utilize her services.

Iva possesses superior verbal and written communication skills along with a genuine love for the English language. She has held the official role of my English tutor for almost a decade now.  Post unsatisfactory experiences with multiple different tutors in the past, I am more than lucky to have finally come across an individual with as much dedication as Iva brings to the table.  I reaped the benefits of her invested time as far back as high school, with significantly improved scores on all my English class assignments, essays and tests. In addition to teaching me the concepts and skills that I needed to achieve high scores, she has not only taught, but also fine-tuned my practical skills such as resume writing techniques and job interview skills.  She was also instrumental in advising me on how to write a university application essay that stood out among all the others reviewed by the university admissions departments.

Over time, Iva has strengthened my ability to be articulate about difficult concepts and texts, as well as my capacity to consider the subtleties within literature and the purpose behind authors' works.  She was able to successfully do so through her own sensitivity to the nuances within literature, and her passion for reading, writing, and creative expression- both in and out of the classroom. Her caring nature and personality allow her to work well with others in a teacher-student setting, as she always respects others' opinions even when they differ from her own.  She has always demonstrated this openness to and empathy for the opinions, feelings, and perspectives of others, along with shrewd powers of observation - all qualities that make her outstanding as a teacher of English and literature.  Iva is an insightful, sensitive and deeply self-aware individual driven to help her students succeed, and she has my highest recommendation for the role.

Iva was my ESL tutor a couple years ago. She helped me feel braver by believing in my abilities. She always made me feel comfortable and I gained more confidence in speaking English during our lessons! She also helped me with any questions I had about writing or grammar. I recommend Iva because she is very kind and helpful :)
