About Woody
Having studied and achieved outstanding grades at GCSE and A-Level, I bring significant experience to our lessons. Receiving high marks across multiple papers at A-Level, I achieved A*s in all my English Literature papers in my 2025 exams and was the only student in my school to achieve this grade. At GCSE level, I was able to score high marks in all my papers with my Macbeth paper scoring full marks. This placed me in a top percentile of students within my school. Having informally tutored before, I often find that students already have amazing ideas and opinions about the texts they are studying. Usually, it is the articulation of ideas in an academically sophisticated way that students struggle with the most. Commonly, it is an in-depth understanding of the grading rubric which allows a student to write answers which are clear, precise and stimulating for the marker. Through our lesson, I hope to help build your skills on crafting a perceptive and critically engaged essay which I will do through structural techniques I used myself to boost my marks within the top grade boundaries.

In our first lesson, I would ask that you bring me essays you have previously written so that I can understand what level you are working at and how we can improve from there. Each lesson can be customised to your needs in English Literature whether that is visiting unfamiliar parts of a text or going over exam techniques. I can help to improve your essay writing skills, understand in greater depth the books you are studying for school as well as key characters so that, by the time you enter your exams, you feel as confident as possible! I am familiar with several texts on the GCSE and A-Level syllabus. However, in my course, I studied Shakespeare, Dickens, Atwood, Blake, Wordsworth, Shelley and many more! I am flexible with timings and can conduct lessons for up to 2hrs most days of the week. I would usually hold lessons online. My lessons are catered towards GCSE and A-Level students.
