About David
I have been teaching at the same high school in Philadelphia for ten years and won teacher of the year two years ago. I was an English teacher for eight years before moving to special education to really focus my attention on students with high needs. I come to work each day with a smile on my face and the highest level of professionalism. My first concern has always been the well-being of my students, and once I feel comfortable that they are all in the right state of mind, then we can proceed with the lesson. If students are off mentally or physically, for whatever reason, then an educational lesson will never run smoothly. Nothing makes me happier than when students of mine understand a lesson or have an "aha!" moment. So many of my former students keep in touch with me, and it is always amazing to hear about the people they've become long after I finished teaching them.

My teaching method is simple and straightforward. We do not move on to a new topic or lesson until you feel fully comfortable with the current lesson! Usually we can start with a fun and simple exercise to get us ready for the lesson, whether by activating prior knowledge or giving a preview of the lesson. Lessons are for any English, math or history students from elementary school all the way to high school. What sets me apart as a tutor is my passion for teaching, my sense of humor, my ability to relate to students, and my love for movies, TV shows and music and how I'm able to use that in my lessons.
