About Courtney
Hello! My name is Courtney. I'm an American English teacher with 7 years experience of teaching English as a second language. I have lived and taught all over the world, and have had students from China, Spain, Brazil, Korea, Japan, France, and more! I have worked with both children and adults, at every level of English (beginner to advanced).
I have two BA degrees from the United States in English and Spanish. I also have a Master's degree from the University of Maryland in Second Language Acquisition, in which I studied how people learn second languages. I have both the theoretical knowledge and practical teaching skills to help you succeed at the highest level.
I currently teach a number of students with various levels in English. Some students prefer to focus on accent reduction, others want to expand their vocabulary, and others prefer grammar or test preparation. Each class is designed specifically to your needs. My goal is for you to have fun and enjoy the process of learning English.

My approach to teaching depends on the student's needs. If you'd like a course geared towards academics, the course will likely be more rigorous and fine-tuned towards that specific style of English.
However, some classes can be more light-hearted, where we debate and introduce new vocabulary through discussions and readings.
If you'd like to prepare for a test, like the PTE or IELTS, I'm happy to help with this as well. We can identify and improve upon specific, weak areas for you to ensure a high score on the exam.
Overall, we will communicate. The most important part about a language is using it, and I will make sure you feel comfortable and confident while speaking.
