About James
During my time studying English Literature at The University of Birmingham, three years of Undergraduate and one year of Postgraduate, I was challenged with regularly teaching seminars. These lessons comprised approximately ten to fifteen students of varying ages and capabilities. I taught a wide variety of areas including topics such as Contemporary Literature, Modernist Literature and Shakespearian literature. I was able to inspire and relay my own research to others in a way that was understandable and coherent. Consequently, students felt better prepared to complete their University assignments.

I have recently completed a Master's degree in English Literature at The University of Birmingham. I am passionate and extremely knowledgable about the subject. I am very capable of understanding a broad spectrum of literature and would be able to teach from GCSE level to Undergraduate level. To do this I would spend an extensive period of time reading the set texts alone and alongside critical theory. Then, I would align this knowledge with the relevant course requirements so that I have a strong understanding of the texts within the context of the level of the tutee so that appropriate teaching could be provided. Finally, I would identify the tutee's problem areas and interests in order to improve knowledge and to inspire enthusiasm. Literature is my passion and I desire the opportunity to instil the timeless enjoyment of English in others.
