My name is April and I’m a major music, art, film and literature fanatic! I’ve always enjoyed sharing my interests and ideas. I love discussion and debate and English leaves so much room for discussion and nuance so it’s truly my passion to engage with other young people who share this joy (or those looking to find joy in it).

As a BA English Literature graduate from the University of Cape Town, I bring a fresh, modern perspective to tutoring that moves away from stiff, old-school lectures. My methodology is centered on collaborative analysis and mastering the "art" of the essay, focusing on demystifying complex IEB poetry and literature into relatable, contemporary concepts. In a typical lesson, you can expect high-energy "live sculpting" of essay structures and conversational deep dives into stanzas to turn dense metaphors into ideas that actually click. I teach exclusively in English and specialize in supporting IEB students from Grade 8 through Grade 11, helping them build the sophisticated analytical foundations and unique voice needed to stand out to markers. Whether you are tackling set works or looking to sharpen your creative craft, my goal is to make the curriculum feel vibrant, manageable, and genuinely engaging.
